Well, he was none the worse for HIS antics, if only the same could be said for me!
So I went for the easy option last night and rode Magic and led Max - who was even spooky when led! He did try to pretend he couldn't remember how this 'led' thing works, but caught on that I perhaps wasn't in the mood for his games. Magic was perfick pone.
We trotted up the road (very sound and VERY long striding - making me wonder how much of his trouble has been through his back?!) Chicken and egg, I know. And then went round the field where they behaved impeccibly, even in the wind, and we had an extended trot along the airstrip - not quite brave enough to canter on our first ride/lead outing for months!
Then tonight we went in the field, he feels amazing, a different horse. Lovely loose big trot. Canter right was totally different, actually covering ground and not all four legs stuck out straight.
And the great thing? Left canter! Still needs 2 goes, but we had about 6 short left canters!!! Whooohooo. Definately not a fluke, pony not broken any more!!
Am almost tempted to take him to the pleasure ride on Sun, rather than the bouncemeister, but think that might just blow his brains!
